Request a Grant
Once each calendar year, the Garden Foundation of RI Inc. (GFRI) will consider applications for financial support for projects specifically relating to gardening and other horticultural endeavors, emphasizing educational components.
Eligibility and Requirements:
- Applicants are limited to one grant request per year per organization.
- Applicants may submit grant requests up to three consecutive years, but after the third year, must take a year off before applying again.
- Please submit an itemized budget of what you are requesting funding for and include each item’s estimated cost, including quotes for materials, tools, and labor Only grants with itemized budgets will be considered.
- Grant funds cannot be used for wages, gas mileage, or planning fees
- Each grant application will be considered on its merits and weighed accordingly, subject to available funds
- Funds must be expended by the end of that calendar year unless the applicant requests and is given an extension from the Foundation.
- Written progress reports will be requested and a final project grant recap submitted (including photos cleared for publicity release) to the Foundation at the end of the calendar year.

Important Information
Applications for grants will be accepted during the below application window:
WINTER: January 1 – February 15
- Grants will be considered in light of the Foundation’s mission to support horticulture programs in the State of Rhode Island and surrounding communities.
- Funds will be made available following grant review and approval by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, for the approved purpose only.
